It’s a brand-new year, and with a new year comes new goals. There are many different types of resolutions and goals people often try to set for themselves around this time. If you find yourself unsure of what you want to work on this year or how you’re going to achieve it, read this list of most popular resolutions for the new year.

Commit To Healthier Eating

Because this is such a common New Year’s resolution, it’s also the one that people are most likely to break. One of the first ways to get over this idea is to realize that eating healthier doesn’t mean you have to go on a radical or stringent diet. In fact, most nutritionists have said that extreme crash diets are less healthy and show far less long-term success than more balanced eating plans. Limit sweets and junk food to only a couple of days a week. Plan how much of each food group you want to aim for each day. Since these steps are far less stringent, you’ll be more apt to stick with your resolution.

Save More Money

This resolution is another one that’s more likely to succeed if you don’t take it to an extreme. The best way to save money is simply to find ways to spend less. Set a budget for yourself. Look at specific categories you need to spend money on—food, utilities, entertainment—and see if there are less expensive options. For example, take grocery shopping. Do you really need that name-brand cereal? Can you shop around for better prices or find coupons for the things you need? You don’t need to always shop at the most high-end stores.

Try To Learn Something New

Why not give yourself a goal to learn a new skill this year? Many people think of resolutions in a negative sense—losing weight, spending less, decreasing their emotional baggage—but they often overlook the idea of learning something new. Instead, try to teach yourself something a new language or craft. Take a class on something you’ve never tried before. Consider trying an art class or dancing lessons. It’s entirely up to you!

Increase Your Exercise

One of the most popular resolutions for the new year is always to work out more and get more fit. For this, you need to know where to begin. The best way to approach this is to start off light and work your way up. Don’t try to overwork your body right off the bat. Doing so can lead to burnout and injuries. Breaking down your goals into steps Is the first of several tips for setting your fitness goals. Lay out the steps you’ll take to reach your goal. The better you plan, the better you’ll be able to stick with it throughout the year.
